I met the YNOT Cycle crew a couple of years ago at a bicycle expo and we hit it off right away. So, naturally, I was excited to sneak a peek at their new location in Toronto and see what all the fuss was about. It was worth it.
The store serves as a retail outlet and a production environment, sporting sewing machines where the cash registers should be and multi tasking friendly folk. If you believe a custom life is a better life, you can have your YNOT bicycle bag built to spec on the premises. Amazing.
Sara filled me in on all the details while stitching pedal straps together for the store. From the sounds of it, she was pretty happy to be able to sew and hang out with people. The store revolutionizes the retail space, using counter space that was once occupied by cash registers and setting up sewing machines so the custom made-to-order manufacturing process a part of the interactive sales experience. Sounds like fun to me!
